Don't It Make Your Blue Eyes Brown...

After one year to the day, our bathroom is finally completed. We did all of it ourselves, including demolition, except for the tiling. (By "we" I mean Rex. And by "demolition" I mean hack huge hammers against 4 layers of vinyl and pray that we don't die from Aspestos poisoning.)
I also have high hopes that the molding stays on our ceiling and not in our food. In a rare act of restraint, and in deference to my mother who feels I talk about poop too much, I am refraining from all ca ca jokes (Even though I am showing pictures of two... TWO... toilets. Feel free to send me the medal. Though I suppose in mentioning that I'm not talking about it I'm actually talking about it, but we'll let that go.)

My final reason for posting the photos (other than accolades and praise for taking longer to produce a working bathroom than a breathing fetus) is that I currently have apple pork roast in my crock pot for Meat Monday, recipe courtesy of K, courtesy of Allrecipes.com. Colored postings to come later this evening. Included in such illustrations are chipped 1950's tile and a porcelain kitchen sink with more pock marks than the bad guy from Grease.
The tough side of me feels no need to justify. The vain side of me feels compelled to explain that I really do have style.
Unless ya'll hate brown paint. In which case you will walk away thinking I'm both tacky and cheap.

But I love it! Hope the pork turns out as well (and doesn't take as long to finish.)

Wow. That's beautiful. A beautiful potty...
I'm rather jealous - I still have the bathroom with the pock marked sink, chipped tile, which was painted over with NORMAL paint that is now flaking off like leprous skin. Way to go!

It's beautiful, awesome job. It should make you feel very satisfied and proud. I like the colors very much.
The pork sounds heavenly, what time is dinner? =D

When i saw the first picture i thought "Oooh, pretty brown paint!"

And the potty seat looks so cozy there with it's magazine rack.

Nice work.

I Love Love Love your brown bathroom! I will come over and use it soon. I too am crockpotting...1 roast, 1 can cream of mushroom, 1 package mushroom gravy, water to cover...delish over mashed tatos!

Maggie - I so get you on the leper sink it isn't even funny. This bathroom is such a luxury for me. Of course, I still have the 1950's shower, which quite by accident is a similar color to our tile. My goal is to knock it out and add a footed tub one day. Until then, I'm going to add a long white rod and hang white rich shower curtains to match the white beadboard and towels (it will cover the dark glass 70's slider door.)

Pam, thanks for the compliment. As far as dinner, the title of the blog will be called "pork dork." Stay tuned and be glad you're not partaking.

Amisare, I had a feeling you'd like the brown since you're pretty funky. Brown works with cool accessories. Otherwise, it looks like that bad shag apartment that smells of cigarette butts.

Meno, come on by. You can sit on the baby toilet and read the latest series in Taco Bell education. (No joke... it came with the Happy Meal.)

K - You've seen it, but not the molding. Your brother rocks. Sorry, but for all his geekness, he still rocks.

It's lovely! Nice wainscotting. Love the little potty with its own magazine holder. Way to go Mama P and co!

Ah, KD, thanks. I'm going to make a it a bit more vintage at some point. The prints are from Linens and Things and while I like them, I want a richer frame with wood or something funky/retro. In time...
